How to Care For Your Teeth the Right Way

Dental hygiene should be taught to kids at an early age to prevent cavities and gum disease. Kids who don’t brush and floss regularly may develop cavities, which are caused by the buildup of bacteria, plaque and tartar on the teeth. You also run the risk of tooth sensitivity, which can cause a burning sensation in your mouth when you chew, if you don’t take care of your teeth. The sooner a child is taught the importance of taking care of their teeth, the better their chances will be of maintaining healthy gums and teeth for a lifetime.

The best way to teach kids how to take care of their teeth is by modeling the behaviour they should exhibit when brushing and flossing their teeth. Children should be encouraged or even forced, to go between their teeth and see how clean they can make them. They should be taught that brushing is more about the cleaning process and not just the actual tooth brush, and they should only brush their teeth twice daily, using the proper toothpaste and floss.

It’s also important to let your children know how to brush and floss, and what to look for while doing it. For instance, there are different toothpastes made specifically for children with sensitive teeth that are only beginning to develop. It is also worth looking at using a Bamboo Toothbrush like the ones from Bambooth as these are often kinder to the teeth and gums and are better for the environment than their plastic counterparts.
