Here are some of the STIs that it is important to know about.
- Chlamydia

- Gonorrhoea

- Human papillomavirus (HPV)
This virus is very common, and there are over 100 different types. It can be transferred from genital contact, sexual activities and the sharing of sex toys. It has no symptoms and so can be hard to detect. The HPV vaccination that is being given to young men and women is helping to reduce the instances of HPV related illnesses such as cervical cancer and a number of mouth-related cancers.
There are other STIs such as HIV, pubic lice, genital warts and scabies. All of these need to be assessed and treated to help prevent further health issues from occurring in the future.
